Geneva Belle Steinmeier Buchanan Lacewell age 97 years and 14 days. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday March 12 at 5:08 pm. We sang her favorite hymns and listened to music that included her son Dennis singing. Geneva was born Feb 26, 1925 in Puxico MO to Joe and Pearl (Hawks) Steinmeier. In 1944 she married Monroe Buchanan in Pontiac Michigan. He preceded her in death Jan of 1970. In 1971 she married Dolph Lacewell in Puxico, he preceded her in death in July of 1989. Geneva was a member of First Baptist Church in Puxico where she was the organist for several years. She loved her church and loved to sing. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW 7822, Thursday Culture Club, Senior Citizens Club of the Nutrition Center where she volunteered for many years. She retired from Mingo Job Corp after working there for 22 years in 1989. Survivors include her children, Cheryl and Garey Faries Puxico MO, Dallas and Marla Buchanan of Puxico MO, Joy and Jeff Buchanan of Colfax, WI, Zena Onstott and Chuck Campbell of Tuscola, IL two sisters Emma Walton of Auburn, AL and Nettie Ward of Puxico MO she had many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and three very special friends Tom Haynes, Ruby Franklin and Robin Pastori. Preceding her in death was her son, Dennis Buchanan of Advance MO, Step daughters Joan and Doyle Moore and Judy and James Jackson, Half son Arthur Lee and his wife Bea Buchanan of Wisconsin Half Daughter Doris Sheffer Parents Joe and Pearl Steinmeier, Sisters, Dorothy Tweedy, Vivian Glenn, Lillian Green, Pauline Sifford Brothers Bill Steinmeier, Bonnie R Steinmeier, Charles Steinmeier, and Hoover Steinmeier Funeral will be held at First Baptist Church of Puxico on Friday March the 18 at 11:00 am. Visitation from 10:00-11:00. In lieu of flowers the family would request donations be made in Geneva’s name to leave an everlasting impact on her friends and neighbors at Puxico Senior Housing.
