Lola Mae Bagby, the daughter of the late Oscar William and Lena Mae Walker Pippins, was born in Townley, Missouri on October 17, 1907, and passed away at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston, Missouri on October 10, 2005, at the age of 97 years, 11 months and 23 days. A short time after her husbands death in 1951, Lola moved to Elgin, Illinois working at the Ducane Factory until retirement at age 65. She continued to live there near her relatives for several years then moved to Florida with a granddaughter. One of her daughters (Gloria) also lived there. The last few years before her death her children had the privilege of sharing more intimately in her life through extended visits between the four. Lola will be remembered and loved by all who knew her for her courage to tackle what life dealt her with out complaining. She had a serving and giving heart. Accepting Jesus as her savior and obeyed in submission in baptism, in her youth. She remained faithful till the end. She met with the "Church of Christ" fellowship where ever she lived. She will be missed and her memory treasured. On January 26, 1926, she was married to Ernest W. Bagby in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in February 1951. Surviving are one son, Charles Bagby of Sikeston, Missouri; three daughters, Peggy Shackelford of Exeter, California, Gloria Coleman of Bushnell, Florida, Connie Freund of Warsaw, Missouri. twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; one sister, Mable Stacy of St. Louis, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Friends may call after 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 13, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 13, 2005, at the Watkinsn & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Pat Hogan of Sikeston, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Park Cemetery in Malden, Missouri. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri is in charge of arrangements.
