Roy Vernon Hastings, the son of the late Sherdan and Amy Huback Hastings, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on July 22, 1928, and passed away at the John Cochran V. A. Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri on September 11, 2005 at the age of 77 years, one month and 20 days. He had lived in St. Louis, Missouri for many years and moved to Bell City, Missouri fifteen years ago. Mr. Hastings was a retired Custodian and Maintenance worker with the St. Louis County Library. He attended the Apostolic Chruch of God and had served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. On June 15, 1967, he was married to Virginia Hurley in St. Louis, Missouri. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Hastings of Bell City, Missouri; three sons, Ricky Hastings of Bell City, Missouri, Steven Hastings of Villa Ridge, Missouri, Tony Hastings of St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter, Tina Stone of Washington, Missouri; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Calvin Hastings. Friends may call after 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. John Hurley of Canalou, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in the Rombauer Cemetery in Rombauer, Missouri. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri is in charge of arrangements.
