C. J. Ivy, Jr., son of the late Crawford John, Sr. and Maud Kirk Ivy, was born in Brinkley, Arkansas on August 10, 1931, and passed away at the home of his daughter in Dexter, Missouri on September 14, 2009, at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 4 days. Mr. Ivy had lived in Arkansas and Chicago, Illinois before moving to Dexter 14 years ago. At the age of seventeen C.J. entered the U. S. Army serving twenty-one years. He served in both Korea and Vietnam he retired in 1971. He was a member of the American Legion. On July 18, 1956, he was married to Lovina Hasler in Blytheville, Arkansas. Surviving are his wife, Lovina Ivy of Dexter, Missouri; three sons, Rex Ivy of Greenville, South Dakota, Scott Ivy of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, Stan Chism of Copperas Cove, Texas one daughter, Teresa Ivy of Dexter, Missouri; six grandchildren, Dawn Chism of Houston, Texas, Debbie Chism of Copperas Cove, Texas, Jason Josupait of Essex, Missouri, Sondra Ivy of Fort Riley, Kansas, Taylor Ivy and Niki Ivy both of Greenville, South Dakota; three great grandchildren, Chris Chism of Copperas Cove, Texas, Logan Josupait of Essex, Missouri and Kale Avila of Fort Riley, Kansas. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Frank and Dan Ivy. Friends may call on Monday, September 21, 2009, after 9:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2009, at 11:00 AM at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Chaplain of , Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military rites, Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
