Wilma Arcena McGowen, 97, of Puxico, Missouri went to be with the Lord May 26, 2022, at Auburn Creek Assisted Living in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Wilma was born October 06, 1924 in Puxico, Missouri to the late Audrey Azel Allen and Dena Ann Hickman Allen.
She was united in marriage to Hubert “Dude” McGowen on December 05, 1940 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Wilma was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church for 84 years, serving as clerk, Sunday School Teacher and many other areas. She played the piano entirely by ear, which she considered her heavenly gift. Wilma enjoyed gardening and brightening lives with her beautiful flowers. She loved quilting with her mother, and her children and grandchildren were gifted with special wedding quilts.
She is survived by two sons Jummy (Marsha) McGowen of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Terry (Trish) McGowen of Puxico, Missouri; six grandchildren Brian (Peggy) McGowen of Puxico, Missouri, Drs. Sarah (Roy) Phillips of Lexington, South Carolina, Nan (Brad) Beaird of Columbia, Missouri, Brandon (Krystal) McGowen of Puxico, Missouri, Eric (Kristi) McGowen of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Julie (Aaron) Kuehle of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; twelve great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents Audrey and Dena Allen; husband Hubert “Dude” McGowen; one son Dr. Sammy H. McGowen and three brothers Ralph, Everett and Elmer Allen. A host of family and friends also survive.
Visitation will be on Thursday June 02, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday June 02, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Rev. Gary Burns officiating and Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
Internment will follow directly after the service at Duck Creek Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri.
