William Avery Stobaugh, son of the late George Washington and Ethel Wilma Harwood Stobaugh, was born in Center Ridge, Arkansas on October 4, 1918, and passed away at the Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County in Dexter on August 11, 2013, at the age of 94 years, 10 months and 8 days.
He had lived in Arkansas before moving to Missouri in 1946. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Church of Christ in Matthews, Missouri.
On January 4, 1936, he was married to Martha Elizabeth Ethridge in Center Ridge, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on July 26, 2012.
Surviving are five daughters, Glenda Barber of Dexter, Missouri, Margaret Weaver of Beaumont, Texas, Kathy Jones of Bloomfield, Missouri, Jeannine McCoy of Lubbock, Texas, and Jan Powell of St. Claire, Missouri; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and expecting two more; one sister, Peggy Holyfield of Columbus, Mississippi. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Baldwin; one son, William Charles Stobaugh; three sisters, Mildred Baskins, Margie Stokes and Mary Kennard; two brothers, Bob Stobaugh and Lyndon Stobaugh; and one granddaughter; Sara Leija.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 14, 2013, after 4:30 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Jim Colvett of Matthews, Missouri officiating.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Center Ridge, Arkansas with Walton Weaver of Beaumont, Texas officiating with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
