William Screws, son of the late Marion August and Nora Demby Whisett Screws, was born in Hamon, Oklahoma on June 19, 1909, and passed away at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri on December 24, 2006, at the age of 97 years, 6 months and 5 days.
Mr. Screws had lived most of his life in Oklahoma and had moved to Puxico, Missouri eight years ago. He was a member of the Christian Tabernacle in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a retired millwright, carpenter with the J. C. Penney company, and had worked as a Boiler Engeneer at the Oklahoma City University.
In December of 1934, he was married to Bonnie Estell Carper in Okemah, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on June 24, 1998.
Surviving one daughter, Freda Gayle Brown of Puxico, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with Jonathan Brown of Sparta, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri in charge of local arrangements.
