William W. "Bill" McBroom, son of the late Filden Samuel and Eunice M. Pippens McBroom, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 5, 1944, and passed away at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter, Missouri on February 20, 2006, at the age of 61 years, 2 months and 15 days. He was a former of Malden and Richland and had lived in Dexter for many years. He was an avid bowler and bingo player. He had spent twenty years as a School Bus Driver before retiring. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie and the Elks Lodge in Dexter, Missouri. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War, receiving a Purple Heart, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the VFW Post in Lilbourn, Missouri and was a lifetime member of the DAV chapter in Dexter, Missouri. Surviving are one daughter, Gillian Elizabeth Cagle of Dexter, Missouri; one son, Aaron Gilbert McBroom of Dexter, Missouri; two step-sons, David Shepard and Ronnie Joe Cannady both of Bernie, Missouri; one step-daughter, Debbie Freeman of Parma, Missouri; six grandchildren, Chelsee Eagle, Adam Eagle, Trevor Burnham, Johnna McBroom, Austin Shepard and Adysen Shepard, two brothers, Darrell T. McBroom of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Jerry Paiton McBroom of Pevely, Missouri; three sisters, Betty Lou Risse, Lena Mae Barbara Rogers and Patricia Ann Blankenship all of Dexter, Missouri and a special friend, Rita Clawson of Dexter, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Denver Eugene McBroom; and one sister, Evelyn Sue Rollins. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. of , Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
