William E. Hancock, son of Mary Bell Barber Hancock and the late William L. Hancock was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on March 12, 1937, and passed away at his home in Orange Park, Florida on July 20, 2009, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 8 Days.
Mr. Hancock grew up in Dudley, Missouri and moved to Florida shortly after being married to Dorothy M. Garrett in East St. Louis. He retired from Grimes Construction Company where he worked as a Foreman. He was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are his mother, Mary Bell Hancock of Marble Hill, Missouri; wife, Dorothy M. Hancock of Orange Park, Florida; three sons, Scot and Bill Alan Hancock both of Orange Park, Florida, Chuck Hancock of Chipley, Florida; three granddaughters; two great grandsons; one brother, Ed Hancock of Dudley, Missouri; four sisters, Joyce Slinkard of Marble Hill, Missouri, Mary Harrington of Flint Michigan, Kim Watts of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Patricia Hoehne of Hayward, Wisconsin. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his father William L. Hancock and one sister, Patsey Ashton.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at 1:00 PM at the Dudley Community Church in Dudley, Missouri with the Rev. Greg Meadows of Dudley, Missouri officiating.
