William James "Jim" Gunn, the son of the late William and Effie Swan Gunn, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 4, 1924, and went to be with our Lord at the home of his daughter in Jackson, Missouri on February 4, 2008, at the age of 83 years and 2 months.
Mr. Gunn had lived in Dexter, Missouri most of his life. He was a charter member of the First Pentecostal Church in Dexter, Missouri over 60 years, which was founded by his father, William Gunn.
On October 18, 1946, he was married to the love of his life, Lottie Mae Clark in Piggott, Arkansas. After 59 loving years she preceded him in death on November 20, 2005.
The love and joy of his life was his family, surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn & Richard Bregenzer of Pinehurst, Texas, Susan & James Hughes of Jackson, Missouri; six grandchildren, Dan & Annie Hook of Montgomery, Texas, Sherri & Jay Migl-Barton of Spring, Texas, Sam Hook of Woodlands, Texas, Chris & Becca Hook of Vancleave, Mississippi, Brad & Rebekah Hughes of Jackson, Missouri, Richard Bregenzer, Jr. of Clear Lake, Texas; ten great grandchildren, Andrew, Joey, Christopher, Kelcey, Justin and Kendall Hook, Trey and Ty Migl and Breanna and Lorelei Hughes; two brothers, Marion Gunn of Florissant, Missouri, Kenneth Gunn of St. Louis, Missouri; four sisters, Dorothy (Rev. Lee) Cook of Advance, Missouri, Norma Smith of Puxico, Missouri, Nadine Wray of St. Louis, Missouri and June Dixon of Kansas City, Kansas. He is also survived by many friends and family members. He was preceded in death by one granddaugher, Rebekah Hughes in January of 2003, and one sister, Willene Gunn.
Friends may call on Friday, February 8, 2008, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008, at 1:00 PM in the First Pentecostal Church in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Robert Bentley of St. Louis, Missouri, Rev. Ronnie Brown of Jackson, Missouri, and Rev. Joseph Geuin of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
