Wayne Lewis of Bloomfield, son of the late Simeon Vest and Hattie Myrtle Dixon Lewis, was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on November 26, 1922, and passed away at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cape Girardeau on August 8, 2016, at the age of 93 years.
He had lived in Bloomfield most of his life. He had worked in the grocery business as a meat cutter, was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during WWII.
On October 10, 1996, he married Alma Louise Fulkerson Burdine in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Alma L. Lewis of Bloomfield; one daughter, Milda Dean Stevens of Florida; one step-daughters, Peggy Hunt of Scottsville, Kentucky; two step-sons, Larie Burdine of Idalia, Tony Burdine of Bloomfield; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one brother, Tom Lewis of Springfield, Missouri and one sister, Leona of Cape Girardeau. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Mary Pearcy, three sisters and three brothers.
Friends may visit on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, after 9:00 a.m. at the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Funeral services will be on Wedneday, August 10, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield with the Rev. Ronnie Stevens of Bloomfield, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors, Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
