W. W. "Bill" King
W. W. "Bill" King, the son of the late William G. and Hazel Leona Phelps King, was born in Clarkton, Missouri on December 15, 1925, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing Center in Puxico, Missouri on May 5, 2005, at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 20 days.
Mr. King had lived most of his life in Puxico, Missouri. He was a member of the Brown General Baptist Church near Puxico and the Puxico Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. He was a retired truck operator for thirty years at the Valley Steel Company in St. Louis, he also was a welding instructor at the Poplar Bluff Public Schools for ten years and was a substitute welding instructor at the Mingo Job Corp. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII and he enjoyed doing mechanical work and traveling.
On September 3, 1948, he was married to Juanita Cookson in Piggott, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife Juanita King of Puxico, Missouri, three sons: Jim King of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Steve King of Clarksville, Ohio, Randy King of Puxico, Missouri, one daughter: Judy Corwin of Eldon, Missouri, twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two brothers: Gail King, Jr. of Jackson, Missouri, Don King of Bellflour, Missouri, two sisters: Bernice Allen of Rodgersville, Arkansas and Midge Lafferty of Bloomfield, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Denny King.
Friends may call after 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 8, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. A Masonic service will be held at 7:00 P.M. in the Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Monday May 9, 2005, at 11:00 A.M. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Johnny Buttry of Puxico, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Brown Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with full military honors conducted, Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
