Virgnia Black
Virginia Black, the daughter of the late Harlan and Mary Rachel Adams Hillis, was born in Jerusalem, Arkansas on July 17, 1930 and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on May 26, 2005, at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 9 days due to injuries received in an automobile accident.
Mrs. Black was a homemaker and had lived in Essex, Missouri most her life. She was a graduate and valedictorian of her graduating class of the Essex High School. She was a member of the Harvest Assembly of God Church in Essex.
On December 21, 1946, she was married to L. B. Black in Piggott, Arkansas.
Surviving are her husband, L. B. Black of Essex, Missouri; three daughters, Karen Galloway of Essex, Missouri, Kay Wooley of Dexter, Missouri, Kathy Leinenbach of Chesterfield, Missouri; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren; four brothers, Danny Hillis of Essex, Missouri, Bruce Hillis and Curtis Hillis, both of Dexter, Missouri and Raymond Lister of Lohman, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one step-sister, Phyllis Dale.
Friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 28, 2005 at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2005, at 11:00 P.M. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Larie Burdine of Essex, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
