Virgie M. Allen Virgie M. Allen the daughter of the late Ernest Eugene Singleton Gromer and Addie Oevia Mason Gromer was born in Stoddard County, Missouri on March 29, 1926, and passed away at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, Mississippi on November 5, 2008 at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 7 days. Mrs. Allen had lived in the Dexter and Malden areas before moving to Mississippi five years ago. She retired from Swifts Poultry Plant in 1970. and was of the United Pentecostal faith. Surviving is her daughter, Karen Shelton of Corinth, Mississippi and 2 sons Gary Allen of Malden, Missouri and Tony Allen of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Seven grandchildren; Four great grandchildren. Three Brothers: Cacil Gromer of Columbia, Missouri, Allen Gromer of St. Louis, Missouri and Charles Gromer of Dexter, Missouri. Three Sisters: Annie Pruitt of Bloomfield, Missouri, Dorothy Edwards of Essex, Missouri and Mary Gromer of Dexter, Missouri. Many other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Alva P., Howard, and Harold Gromer, One daughter Janet Johnson and one granddaughter Sabrina Johnson. Friends may call on Friday, November 7, 2008, after 6:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at 10:00 AM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Jimmy Rich of Glen, Mississippi, officiating. Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
