Violet Whitworth, daughter of the late Troy E. and Mary Jackson Borders, was born in Parma, Missouri on December 31, 1926, and passed away at the Westwood Hills Health Care Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on December 3, 2010, at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 2 days.
She had lived in the Parma and Catron areas for many years before moving to Flint, Michigan. Mrs. Whitworth moved to Poplar Bluff, Missouri in 1981. She was a member of the Twin Springs Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
On October 2, 1944, she was married to Audrey Whitworth in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2005.
Surviving are one son, Dennis Whitworth of Flint, Michigan; five daughters, Shirley Wheat of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Sherry Trostel of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Sandra Johnson of Otter Lake, Michigan, Glenda Simkins of Swartz Creek, Michigan and Brenda Southworth of Twining, Michigan, 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Almond of Flint, Michigan, Wanda Melton of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; four brothers, Jess Borders of St. Charles, Missouri, Dean Borders of Fisk, Missouri, Roy Borders of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Ellis Graydon Marlin of Chicago, Illinois. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one brother Ellis Sanford Marlin.
Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday December 6, 2010, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bret Trostel of Poplar Bluff, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri is in charge of arrangements.
