Jean Holloway, the daughter of the late Virgil Henry and Ora Louise Patterson Cookson, was born near Puxico, Missouri on July 13, 1932, and passed away at the Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on August 24, 2009, at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 11 days after a long illness.
Mrs. Holloway had lived in Puxico all her life. She graduated from Puxico High School in 1950. Jean was active in the Eastern Star in Puxico for many years where she had served as Worthy Matron. She was also an active member of the Puxico Library Board and was had been a member of the Puhicah Club for over 50 years. She had also been a leader in Cub Scouts. She and her husband had owned and operated Holloway Lumber for 40 years.
On June 27, 1950, she was married to Neal Holloway.
Surviving are her husband, Neal Holloway of Puxico, Missouri; three sons and daughters in law, David & Pat Holloway, Danny & Patty Holloway, Doug & Ginger Holloway all of Puxico, Missouri; one daughter and son in law, Diane & Bill McClure of Puxico, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Mandy McMillan, Brad Holloway, Jacquie Hodges, Danielle Wunderlich, Patrick Holloway, Jeanette Haley, Andy Holloway and Ryan McClure; two great grandchildren, Parker Hodges and Grant McMillan; three brothers, Virgil Cookson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jerry Cookson and Larry Cookson both of Puxico, Missouri; three sisters, Juanita King of Puxico, Missouri, Ada Bates and Syble Buttry both of Wappapello, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one sister, Melba Walker, and one brother, J. A. Cookson.
Friends may call on Thursday, August 27, 2009, after 5:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009, at 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Phil Bray and Rev. Ray Placher both of Puxico, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
