Verlin L. Waggoner, son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Anna May Middleton Waggoner, was born on November 21, 1930, in Pyletown, Missouri and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on November 23, 2012, at the age of 82 years.
Mr. Waggoner had lived in the Dexter area all of his life. He had worked as a Mail carrier for the US Postal Service. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of the Bridge Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in the Korean War. He volunteered with the Dexter Baseball Youth League, bowled on a league at Dexter Bowl, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Mizzou Tigers.
On October 8, 1954, he was married to Freeda Pruett in Dexter, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife; Freeda Waggoner of Dexter, Missouri; two daughters, Sue Waggoner-Flowers of Dexter, Missouri, and Sandy Basham of Dexter, Missouri; one son, Kenneth Waggoner of Dexter, Missouri; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one sister, Vera Edwards.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Bridge Church of Christ in Pyletown, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at the Bridge Church of Christ in Pyletown, Missouri with Bro. Bernie Crum of Park Hills, Missouri officiating. Memorials maybe made to the Stoddard County Children's Home, PO Box 164, Dexter, Missouri 63841.
Interment will be in the Chalkbluff Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements
