Thurman A. Almond, son of the late Autie A. and Ora Bailey Almond, was born in Aid, Missouri on April 20, 1921, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on August 10, 2010, at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 21 days.
Mr. Almond had lived in Bloomfield most of his life. He was a retired truck driver and attended the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield.
On December 6, 1941, he was married to Mayme Juldene Long in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on January 15, 2002.
Surviving are one son & spouse, Mike & Becky Almond of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Connie Almond of Sikeston; 2 grandsons and spouses, Todd & Tina Almond of Jackson, Keith & Shelly Almond of Greenville; 8 great grandchildren, Heather Almond of Cape Girardeau, Taylor & Hunter Almond of Jackson, Missouri, Blake Almond of Herculaneum, Tanner & Bailey Almond of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Sydney & Rylan Almond of Greenville; two sisters, Thelma Underwood of Puxico, Leah Robertson of Sikeston; one brother, Charles Almond of Portland, Oregon and one aunt, Geneva Pruitt of Dexter. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Julia Ann Almond and one brother.
Friends may call on Thursday August 12, 2010, after 10:00 AM at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Kevin Eskew of Bloomfield officiating.
Interment will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
