Tommy Payne, son of the late Herman Lee and Dora Mae Peters Payne, was born in McGee, Missouri on April 3, 1930, and passed away at his home near Puxico, Missouri on December 13, 2010, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 10 days. Mr. Payne had lived in the McGee and Puxico areas all of his life. He was a retired Farmer and Millwright worker. He enjoyed raising cattle and horses and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On October 13, 1948, he was married to Audrie Moore. Surviving are one daughter and spouse, Tammy & Rick Wheetley of Puxico, Missouri; two sons and spouses, Marlin & Jan Payne of Bluffton, Arkansas, David & Carolyn Payne of Puxico, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Jonathan Payne, Toni Barnfield, Juston Wheetley, Cody Wheetley, Janell Wheetley, Jackie Harmon, Tommy Payne, Tonya Payne, Dustin Payne, Brandon Payne; nine great grandchildren, Logan Payne, Abegail & Ethan Barnfield, Bryce & Aly Wheetley, Kaiti Payne, Miley Harmon, Austin Payne, Samuel Payne; three brothers, Richard Payne of Virginia, Troy Odell Payne of Texas and Roger Payne of Aid, Missouri. Other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Martin Keith Payne, one grandson Christopher Payne and 7 brothers and 6 sisters. Visitation will be Friday, December 17, 2010, after 6:00 PM at Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in Puxico, Missouri. Services will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010, at 10:00 AM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Larry Payne of Mitchell, Illinois officiating. Interment will be in the McGee New Hope Cemetery near McGee, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
