Thomas Harlan

James Harlan, son of the late Thomas and Viola Harlan, was born in Gray Ridge, Missouri on August 21, 1935, and passed away at the VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee on January 16, 2010, at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 26 days. He had lived in the Gray Ridge area most of his life. He was a member of the D.A.V. in Dexter, Missouri. On December 14, 1957, he was married to Melba Ritch in Hernando, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on Febraury 6, 2003. Surviving are two sons, Michael Harlan of Jackson, Missouri, Tommy Harlan of Dexter, Missouri; three grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly Hargrove of Napa, California and Gloria Ritch of Gray Ridge, Missouri. Other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Harlan. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, 2010, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Services will be held Thursday, January 21, 2010, at 1:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
