Thelma Toombs, the daughter of the late Thomas and Esther Babcock Tharp, was born in Michigan on May 30, 1928, and passed away at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri, December 13, 2005, at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 13 days.
She had lived in the Parma, Missouri area for many years and had resided in Sikeston, Missouri the past twenty years. She had attended the Murray Lane Baptist Church before her health failed.
In 1954, she was married to Claude Charles Toombs in Tupelo, Mississippi. He preceded her in death in 1960.
Surviving are one daughter, Brenda Faye Oglesby of Memphis, Tennessee and two grandchildren, Michael Toombs of Sikeston, Missouri and Tracey Phillips of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Toombs on June 25, 2000, one brother, Junior Tharp and one sister, Pauline Baker.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 15, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Glen Cantrell of Sikeston, Missouri officiating.
