Sylvia Roxine Gaines Terrill, daughter of the late Charles Roscoe and Lucy Ann Ruggles Farmer, was born in Norwood, Missouri on September 1, 1922, and passed away at the Southern Missouri Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on August 24, 2009, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 23 days.
Mrs. Terrill had lived in Dexter most of her life. She had worked and retired from Elders Manufacuring. She was affiliated with the General Baptist Church.
In 1939 she was married to Cleatis Gaines in Bloomfield. He preceded her in death in 1984. In 1991 she married Paul Terrill in Bernie. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are four sons, Richard Gaines and John "Bill" Gaines both of Dexter, Missouri, Ray Woods of Tucson, Arizona, Ronnie Gaines of Knob Noster, Missouri; two daughters, Shirley Dowdy of Chaffee, Missouri, Nancy Tilley of Bloomfield, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; three sisters, Lavelle Gold of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Yvonne Taylor of Wappapello, Missouri, Frankie Kinder of Dexter, Missouri; two brothers, Charles and Allen Farmer both of Dexter, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survives. She was preceded in death by one son, Cleatis Wayne Gaines, five brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri.
Interment will be in the Caroline-Dowdy Cemetery near Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
