Sonny Floyd

Rev. Sonny Floyd, son of the late Clarence and Myrtle Marie Dean Floyd, was born in Tennessee on November 3, 1938, and passed away in Cape Girardeau on September 19, 2013, at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 14 days. He had lived the past 10 years in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He had owned and operated Floyd & Sons Tree Service and was a member of the South Side Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. On October 13, 1957, he was married to Freda Reaves in Bernie. She preceded him in death on October 27, 1994. Surviving are two sons, Harry "Duane" Floyd and Stephen Floyd both of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Pam Campbell of Oran; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; three sisters, Eva Dixon of Belleville, Illinois, Judy Brown of Sullivan, Missouri and Evelyn Crump of Bloomfield. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Danny Michael Floyd and one sister, Nadine Bates. Visitation will be Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 20, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Gail Lambert of Dupo, Illinois officiating. Interment will be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
