Seldon F. Quick, son of the late Luther and Millie Scism Quick, was born in Bloomfield on January 17, 1918, and died at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on March 28, 2010, at the age of 92. Mr. Quick had lived in Bloomfield, Missouri all his life. He graduated from Bloomfield High School, class of 1935. He farmed and was employed at Elder's Manufacturing Co. in Dexter, Missouri for 37 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield where he served in many leadership roles and was a deacon for 60 years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his produce with friends and neighbors. He was a positive person that enjoyed each day to the fullest. He was fortunate to have execellent health until a few weeks before his death. On December 25, 1943, he married Louisa Harris. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on Christmas 2009. Surviving are his wife, Louisa Quick of Bloomfield; two daughters and spouses, Judy & Tom Call of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jean & Don Norman of Jackson, Missouri; his granddaughers and spouses, Christine & Mark Griffith of Biloxi, Mississippi, Joy & Joel Chew of Mandeville, Louisiana; five great-grandchildren, Hailey & Haden Chew of Mandeville, Louisiana, Dylan, Brooke & Luke Griffith of Biloxi, Mississippi; one sister, Marjorie Proffer of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and sister in law, Peggy Harris of Bloomfield, Missouri. He was loved by his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Floda Glaser and three brothers, Asa, George and Cloid Quick . Friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, Missouri with the Rev. Kevin Eskew of Bloomfield, Missouri officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until time of services at the church. Interment will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
