Ruby Hampton, the daughter of the late Ben Berry Halcombe and Nancy Jane Woodard Halcombe, was born in Wooster, Arkansas on December 6, 1923, and passed away at her home in Essex, Missouri, on November 23, 2006, at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 17 days.
Mrs. Hampton was a resident of Penermon, MO. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Grayridge, MO where she held many positions. She was a past member of Eastern Star and Heart Health Coalition.
On December 6, 1941, she was married to James Willie Hampton in Conway, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1992.
Surviving are one sister: Ruthalee Gualt of Greembriar, AR, three sons: James F. Hampton of Essex, MO, Tim Hampton of Tupelo, MS and Amos Hampton of Sikeston, MO, six daughters: Nancy McCloud (Series), Deborah Evans and Johnnie Beecham (Robert) all of Memphis, TN, Lisa Hampton of Essex, MO, Earnestine Jones (Robert) and Geraldine Hampton both of Malden, MO, 25 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and 17 great great granddhildren and a host of nephews and nieces. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Gladys Marie Dalton, five brothers, two sisters, three grandchildren, two great grandchilden and two great great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, Decembr 2, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Leroy Williams of Poplar Bluff, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Macedonia Cemetery in Malden, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
