Ruby Hampton, the daughter of the late Benjamin Calvin and Lola Mae Christian Franks, was born in Dorsey, Mississippi on February 19, 1927, and passed away at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on April 27, 2007, at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 8 days. Mrs. Hampton had lived in Southeast Missouri most of her life and moved to Dexter in 1953. She was a home maker and had been a volunteer at the V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri for many years. On August 8, 1946, she was married to George Hampton in East Prairie, Missouri. Surviving are her husband, George Hampton of Dexter, Missouri; one son, Tom Hampton of Dexter, Missouri; four daughters, Linda Foster and Teresa Gibson both of Dexter, Missouri, Marilyn Shatoska of Prairieville, Louisiana, Connie Hampton of Wappapello, Missouri; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Opal Kelso, Tarlie Cox and Jackie Hale all of Peoria, Illinois. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Brad Foster; two brothers, Bill and Bobby Franks, and two sisters, Ruth Wilburn and Berniece Hampton. Friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 AM on Monday, April 30, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 30, 2007, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Phil Warren of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
