Rotha Grimes, daughter of the late William E. & Effie Moody Davisson, was born in Essex, Missouri on January 28, 1926, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on March 26, 2011, at the age of 85 years, 1 months and 28 days.
She had lived in St. Louis, Missouri and Telico Plains, Tennessee before moving to Southeast Missouri five years ago. She had worked as a seamstress and was a member of the Pentecost Church.
In June of 1946, she was married to Clarence Grimes in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in July, 1993.
Surving are two daughters, Patricia Wilson of Bloomfield, Missouri, Jerri Caldwell of Trinity, Texas; one son, Clarence M. Grimes, Sr. of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; ten grandchildren; forty-three great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Linam of Rector, Arkansas; her good friend, Marjorie Champion of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, after 10:00 AM at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri with the Rev. Bill Clanahan of Poplar Bluff, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouril.
