Robert L. Stuart, son of the late Walter and Roosevelt McGowen Stuart, was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on December 13, 1924, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on July 9, 2011, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 26 days. He had lived in Dudley, Missouri all his life. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Dexter. He was a member of the VFW Post in Puxico Mo. He worked for the US Postal Service for over 35 years in Dudley. He had served in the Navy in the South Pacific during WWII. On May 1, 1948, he was married to Audrey Caldwell in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She preceded him in death on February 7, 1999. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn & Richard Long of Dudley, Missouri; two grandchildren and spouses, Richie & Emily Long of Glencoe, Alabama, Denise & Tim Adams of Cordova, Tennessee; two great grandchildren, Braxton Long of Glencoe, Alabama and Ian Adams of Cordova, Tennessee. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers Eugene Stuart and Walter Stuart Jr. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 12, 2011, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri. Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
