Robert Ross

Robert "Bob" Ross, son of the late Eugene and Effie Ross, was born in Forest City, Arkansas on February 1, 1927, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on June 18, 2010, at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 17 days. He had lived in the Essex and Bernie areas most of his life. In his early life he and his wife cared for many elderly in the community. He later worked as an auto mechanic for Estes Walker Dodge, Scism Motors and Bud Shell Ford. He enjoyed fishing and attending church services and was a member of the Bernie Church of Christ. On May 4, 1946, he was married to Ruby Britt in Dexter, Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 31, 1988. Surviving are his care giver, Mary McBride of Essex, Missouri. Other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Nathanial Ross. Visitation will be Saturday, June 26, 2010, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Services will be held Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 1:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Moses Grayson of Essex, Missouri and the Rev. Stan Dauck of Bernie, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
