Raymond F. "Chub" Gowen, son of the late James Alfred and Minnie Jane Foster Gowen, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 14, 1920, and passed away in the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri on March 12, 2011, at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 26 days.
Mr. Gowen had lived in Gray Ridge, Missouri most of his life until moving to Dexter in 1996. He appreciated God's creation in nature and enjoyed fishing, hunting and just being outdoors. He especially enjoyed the spring time.
On August 2, 1941, he was married to Beatrice M. Tucker in Bloomfield, Missouri.
He is survived by one son & spouse, Billy Ray & Jean Gowen of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three daughters & spouses, Wanda Sue & Charles Griffin, Paula Jean & Don Jones all of Dexter, Missouri, Donna Joan & Alan Mansker of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren, LaTrisha Earnheart, Lyle Allen, Marla Catanach, Lisa Gowen, Thad Jones and Joshua Mansker; and eight great-grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clifford, Jimmy & Jackie Gowen; five sisters, Virginia Livesay, Dorothy Hughes Parker, Mary Eaves, Bessie Gowen and one in infancy.
Friends may call at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, after 9:30 AM.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Dean Williams of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter Missouri in charge of arrangements.
