Ranzie Gordon Maynard, the son of the late John A. and Annie E. Edge Maynard, was born in Guntersville, Alabama on December 25, 1919, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on August 9, 2006, at the age of 86 years, 7 months, and 15 days.
He had lived in St. Louis, Chicago and Arizona, and had lived in Dexter, Missouri for thirty years before moving to Wappapello, Missouri several years ago. He was a retired welder, watchmaker and farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served during WWII.
On July 2, 1943, he was married to Alma Hunt in Dexter, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Alma Maynard of Wappapello, Missouri; five daughters, Donna Short of Festus, Missouri, Nannie E. Redd of Valley Mines, Missouri, Peggy Smack of Stacy, Minnesota, Lois Crowley of Columbia, Missouri, Joy Zimmer of Roscoe, Illinois; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and one brother, Johnny Maynard of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmie E. Maynard and Troy Ray Maynard, three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 12, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Bob Taylor of Wappapello, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with full military rites conducted by the Stoddard County Veteran's Honor Team. Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.
