Ralph Sterling Slavings, son of the late Sterling Jack and Erabella Haslip Slavings, was born in Wardell, Missouri on February 18, 1926, and passed away at his home near Broseley, Missouri on November 9, 2006, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 19 days.
He had resided in Broseley, Missouri since 1972 and former resident of Wardell and Malden. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy.
On March 15, 1968, he was married to Delois Crump at Big Rock, Illinois.
Surviving are his wife: Delois Slavings of Broseley, Missouri, four sons: Kelly Slavings and Mike Slavings both of Malden, Missouri, Earl Slavings of Denver, Colorado and Joe Slavings of Beaver Dam, Virginia, four daughters: Darlene Slavings of Malden, Missouri, Eva Cobb and Clara Alvina Wright both of Broseley, Missouri and Betty McDonald of Festus, Missouri, four brothers: Virgil Slavings of Rockville, Illinois, Carrol Slavings of Broseley, Missouri, Herman Slavings of Portageville, Missouri and Danny Slavings of Oklahoma, three sisters: Carolyn Moore of Signaw, Michigan, Imogene Watson of Moscow Mills, Missouri and Odetta Oats of Foley, Missouri. Mr. Slavings is also survived by 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister and one half brother.
Friends may call after 1:00 PM on Monday, November 13, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 13, 2006, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Rev. Fred Applegate of Broseley, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
