Perry Lee Thornton of Essex, Missouri the son of the late Mckinley and Julie (Ayers) Thornton was born on January 25, 1945 in Essex, Missouri and passed away on May 10, 2022 in Caruthersville, Missouri at the age of 77 years.
Perry was of the Christian faith and a member of the Need More Church of God. He lived in the Dexter, Missouri area all of his life where he worked in the farming industry. He enjoyed work, being a shade tree mechanic and watching sports. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Perry married Maggie Lee Cohen on November 02, 1984 in Malden, Missouri.
Perry is survived by his wife Maggie Lee Thornton of the home; three sons Perry Dean (Amber) Thornton of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Dennis Edward (Chrissy)Thornton of Dexter, Missouri and Mark Anthony Thornton of Sikeston, Missouri; one daughter Julia Henry of Dexter, Missouri; two brothers Bobby Joe (Norma Jean)Thornton and Jessie (Eula) Thornton of Malden, Missouri; two sisters Mary Jo (Robert) Underwood of Malden, Missouri and Betty Jo Harris of Elkhart, Indiania; fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; a close friend Curtis Simpson of Kansas City, Missouri. A host of family and friends survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mckinley and Julie Thornton; 4 brothers Calvin Thornton, Bob Ayers, Clarence Ayers and Hugh Ayers; three sisters Pauline Thornton, Elizabeth Ayers and Emma Johnson and by one grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Saturday May 21, 2022 from 11:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral home of Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral Service will be held on May 21, 2022 at 12 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel of Dexter, Missouri with Karen Lomax and Moses Grayson officiating.
Interment will follow at the Macedonia Cemetery in Malden, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
