Paul Cookson

Paul Cookson of Advance, son of the late Fred and Grace M. Townsend Cookson, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on March 18, 1937, and passed away at his home in Advance, October 26, 2016, at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 8 days. Mr. Cookson had lived in Granite City, Illinois for many years and returned to Gipsy, Missouri in 2001. He was a member of the Bethel Church near Advance. He had retired from the McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis as a supervisor. Former Eagle member and loved refinishing furniture, planting trees, hunting, fishing and gardening. On May 27, 1956 he married Nina Nevels in Kinder, Missouri. Surviving are his wife, Nina Cookson of Advance; 3 daughters, Kim and Don Sodam of Collinsville, IL, Paula and Randy Payne of Granite City, IL, Elaine Cookson of Advance, MO; 4 grandchildren, Jesse Sodam, Amanda Fitzgerald, Hannah Fernandez, Audra Payne and 1 great granddaughter, Anastasia Sodam. Other relatives and many friends also survive. Friends may call on Saturday, October 29, 2016, from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Rev. Ray Placher of Puxico officiating.
