Orville Cato, the son of the late Earl and Mary Elizabeth Cato, was born in Dexter , Missouri on September 17, 1920, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on November 4, 2007, at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 18 days.
Mr. Cato lived in Michigan for over 30 years where he worked as a mechanic for General Motors. He moved to Dexter, Missouri before moving to Marble Hill in 1976, and moved to Altenburg, Missouri in 2001. He was retired and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church in Marble Hill, Missouri. He enjoyed horses and was a member of The Tennesse Walkers Association.
On December 27, 1941, he was married to Betty Jean Cato in Bloomfield, Missouri; she preceded him in death on April 16, 2003. In addition to his parents, 5 sisters also preceded him in death. Fern Renna, Pam Sorenso, Alice Hileman, Lenora Kinsey and Geraldine Bumgarner.
Surviving are one son, Roger Dale Cato of Paducah, Kentucky; one daughter, Sandra Lee Cooper of , Holly, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 5 brothers, Earl Cato and John Cato of Shriver, Louisiana, Richard Cato of Holiday ,Tennesse, Dale Cato of Scottshills, Tennesse, and Clayton Cato of Bernie, Missouri. 3 sisters, Patricia Smith of Dexter, Missouri, Nancy Clay of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Judy Moore of Bernie, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive.
Friends may call on Thursday, November 8, 2007, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2007, at 1:00 P.M. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Randel Poole of Marble Hill, Missouri,officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
