Onia Faye Hendley True of Poplar Bluff, daughter of the late Burl "Watermelon" and Maudie Mae Davis Smith, was born in Kennett, Missouri on June 23, 1944, and passed away at her daughter's home in Poplar Bluff on February 6, 2017, at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 14 days.
She had lived in the Wappapello and Dexter areas before moving to Poplar Bluff several months ago. She worked as a truck driver for Snider National and as a waitress. She had attended non-denominational church.
On September 4, 1998 she married Samuel Dale True in Bloomfield. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2005.
Surviving are three daughters and husband, Deborah Ferguson of Bernie, Rhonda Jean & Matt McCoy of Dexter, Kimberly Dawn Walker of Poplar Bluff; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; four brothers, Fred, Jonia, & Lloyd Smith all of Dexter, Floyd Smith of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Burlis Jean Burnett and Edith Frazier both of Dexter. She was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 9, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
