~Olivia Carole Hamra, 51, departed this life on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at her home in Malden, MO. She was the daughter of Shirley George Hamra and the late Dr. Donald Hamra of Malden. She was born on November 2, 1965, in Memphis, TN.
She was a 1984 graduate of Malden High School. She earned her undergraduate degree from Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO, and completed her Master’s Degree in Psychological Counseling from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was a member and supporter of the Bootheel Youth Museum, an avid animal lover, an artist and a lifelong member of the Malden United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Shirley Hamra, and her only daughter, Kahalley Olivia Hamra, both of Malden. Survivors also include her aunts and uncles: Elizabeth (Betsy) Hamra of Chesterfield; Louis George (Elizabeth) of Danville, California, Danny George (Candace) of Osceola, Arkansas; cousins Richard Albert Hamra, III, of Kirkwood, Nicholas Hamra (Sue) of Chesterfield, Susan Hamra (Dr. Colin Butterfield) of Clayton; Jean Margaret Hamra (Steve Kelso) of Chesterfield; Kelly Sagar (Vijay) of Pleasanton, California, Mandy Hicks (Brent) of New York, NY, Louis George (Sara) of Chico, CA; Joey George of Osceola, AR, Walter George of New York, NY; April and Victoria Sagar of Pleasanton, California, Olivia and Ashley Hicks of New York, NY, and Nola George of Chico, California; and extended family Lydia Cover (George), Clifford Pugh (John), Marie McCoy (Keith), Kay Reinert (Brad), Laura Megginson (Bo), Diana Nicholson (Rob), Paul Kahalley (Kimberly), Peter Langsdon (Rosalie), Dr. Phillip Langsdon (Carole). She will also be missed by many other relatives and scores of friends.
Olivia was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Louis and Olivia Kahalley George of Osceola, AR, her paternal grandparents, Richard Albert and Nellie Hodge Hamra of Senath, MO, along with her father, Dr. Don Hamra of Malden, and a paternal uncle, Richard Albert Hamra II, of Chesterfield, MO.
A Celebration of Life was observed on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at her home church, Malden United Methodist. Memorials may be made in Olivia’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter was in charge of arrangements.
