Nora Lawrence

Nora Blyth Lawrence, daughter of Hyram and Dolly Tinker Whitaker, was born in Greenway, Arkansas on April 1, 1920, and passed away at her home in Weir, Kansas on August 12, 2012, at the age of 92 years, 4 months and 12 days. She had lived in Catron and Parma, Missouri before moving to Kansas 10 years ago. She attended the Church of God in Parma. She enjoyed gradening, cooking and visiting with neighbors and friends. On March 21, 1937 she was married to Charlie Fred Lawrence in Catron, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1987 Surviving are three sons, Charles Lawrence of Sikeston, Missouri, Jimmy Lawrence of Dexter, Missouri, Harold Lawrence of Millington, Tennessee; six daughters, Lorene Townsend of Parma, Missouri, Barbara Jackson of Commerce, Missouri, Geraldine Brackney of Weir, Kansas, Carol Lawrence of Parma, Missouri, Thelma Tatum of Batesville, Arkansas, Vivian Hunt of Dexter, Missouri; 22 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; one brother, Winford Whitaker of Puxico, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Dugger and Darlene Parks both of Dudley, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She is preceded in death by three sons, Earnest, Gary and Jerry Lawrence; four brothers, Luther, Lewis, Cecil and Olin Whitaker, three sisters, Corda Bee Meadows, Helen Reed and Irene Lawrence. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Parma, Missouri with Rev. Frank Townsend of Parma, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Parma, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
