Nellie Ruth Smith

Nellie Ruth Smith, the daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Allison Ashbaugh, was born in Puxico, Missouri on June 20, 1927, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing Center in Puxico, Missouri on January 5, 2016, at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 16 days. Mrs. Smith had lived in Puxico, Missouri since 1978. She was retired from Universal Match in Ferguson, Missouri. She had attended the the Assembly of God Church for many years but was attending the Puxico First Christian Church. She enjoyed her dog. On December 8, 1947, she was married to Woodrow D. Smith in Puxico, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2004. Surviving are one son and wife, Donnie & Debbie Smith of Harrah, Oklahoma; two daughters, Joan Short of St. Petersburg, Florida and Jeannie Lovett of Puxico, Missouri, 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Friends may call on Saturday, January 9, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Rev. Jamie Jones of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
