Nela Allen

Nela B. Allen, daughter of the late James M. and Daisy B. Blagg Absher, was born in Carmi, Illinois on September 15, 1915, and passed away at the Miner Nursing Center in Miner, Missouri on May 21, 2009, at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 6 days. Mrs. Allen had lived in Morehouse, Missouri most of her life. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Morehouse, Missouri. On August 21, 1937, she was married to George Washington Allen. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1965. Surviving are three sons, Darrel James Allen of Paducah, Kentucky, Dale Gene Allen of Morehouse, Missouri, Dennis Allen of Lawrenceburg, Tennesse; one daughter, Rose Chojnowski of Aurora, Illinois; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Roscoe, Cletus, Jim and George Absher, and two sisters, Susie Leathers and Mary Taylor. Friends may call on Saturday, May 23, 2009, after 12:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 2:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Manny Alvarado of Sikeston, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Mole Hill Cemetery in Broseley, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
