Murrell L. Duffie, son of the late John Loren and Madeline Carwile Duffie, was born in Dexter, Missouri on November 26, 1924, and passed away at the John J. Pershing V. A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on May 12, 2012, at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 16 days. Mr. Duffie had lived in Dexter, Missouri for many years. He had pastored many churches in Rolla, Lilbourn, Broseley and in the Dexter area, including the Southwest Church of the Nazarene many years ago. He had pastored for 60 years. On March 24, 1985, he was married to Sheron Marie Carson. Surviving are his wife, Sheron Duffie of Dexter, Missouri; two sons, Phillip Duffie of Nashville, Tennessee, Murrell L. Duffie, Jr. of Watertown, Tennessee; two daughters, Jackie Jensen of Crossville, Tennessee, Ruth Ann Heathcock of Nashville, Tennessee; one stepdaughter, Dawn Denise Watkins of Acorn Ridge, Missouri; Many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Duffie of Bernie, Missouri and one sister, Bertha Kurtenbach of Kankakee, Illinois. Other family and friends also survive. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, after 1:00 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri. Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
