Moses Junior Grayson

Moses Grayson of Essex, Missouri, the son of the late Henry and Katie (Spells) Grayson, was born on October 8th, 1945 in Sikeston, Missouri and passed away on November 30th, 2024 at the age of 79 years old.

 He lived in Essex most all of his adult life. In his youth and younger years, he lived in Joplin, Missouri and attended high school there until he graduated and joined the US Army in 1968. Upon completion of his time in the service, he returned home to Joplin, Missouri. In 1974 he moved back to Essex and was married on November 3rd, 1976 to Margaret (Nelson) Grayson.

 In 1977, Moses became an Elder at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. He served 47 years as an Elder of his church and operated the food bank at his church and was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, until his journey home to the Lord.

Surviving family include his children, Carolyn (Jeffrey) Grayson-Ciancaglini, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Stella Renee Grayson, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Olena Katie-Lee (Patricia) Grayson of Essex, Missouri, Moses Grayson Jr. of Jefferson City, Missouri, Marquel "Nick" (Melissa) Reno, of Independence, Missouri, Joyce (Rick) Burton, of Essex, Missouri, Evelyn Currie, of Jacksonville, Florida, Angela Moore, of Jacksonville, Florida, Lora Moore, of Sikeston, Missouri, Melissa Moore of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Glenda Faye Sanders, of Grand Rapids, Michigan. 3 brothers: Emory (Annie) McCauley and Calvin (Carolyn) Grayson, both of Sikeston, Missouri, David McCauley, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, as well as 3 sisters: Elizabeth Harrington, of Sikeston, Missouri, Dorothy (Herman) Jefferson, of Collinsville, Illinois, Shirley Grayson of Sikeston, Missouri, an aunt, Minnie Clark of Pennerman, Missouri, 30 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, as well as a host of other family and friends. 

 Moses was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, a son, Marvin Nelson, 4 brothers: Sam, Clarence, Clevland, and Leroy, a sister, Hattie.

 Moses loved his family and friends immensely. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

 The visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 11 A.M. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home In Dexter, Missouri.

 The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 12 P.M. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Reverend Richard Houston officiating.

 There will be a repass at Vision of Hope (8802 county road 765, Essex, Missouri) following the funeral.
