Mildred Scott, the daughter of the late James Otto and Bessie Stewart Smith, was born in Puxico, Missouri on January 19, 1919, and passed away at the Cypress Point Nursing Center in Dexter, Missouri on September 20, 2014, at the age of 95 years, 8 months, and 1 day.
She had lived most of her life in Puxico, Missouri. She and her husband had owned and operated various businesses including Navajo Motel and Grocery, Smith and Scott Appliance Store, and she retired from the Scott Florist. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Puxico for many years and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. She was a 1937 graduate of Puxico High School.
On October 28, 1939, she was married to Alvin L. Scott in Puxico, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2006.
Surviving are one son, Doug Scott of Puxico, Missouri; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren and one sister, Margaret Rittenhouse of Chesterfield, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, J. Barry Scott.
Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Doug Scott of Puxico, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Rock Hill Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri. Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.
