Melvin Lee Cagle, son of the late Frank and Lula Elizabeth Triplett Cagle, was born in Essex, Missouri on February 11, 1925 and passed away at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri on January 8, 2016, at the age of 90 years 10 months, and 27 days.
Melvin had lived in Stoddard and New Madrid County for most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. He had worked for Cato Welding as a welder. Melvin served in the US Army during World War II.
On March 25, 1944, he was married to Muriel Gay Woodson in Stoddard County, Missouri. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are three sons, Tim Cagle of Matthews, Missouri, Terry Cagle of Dexter, and Tommy Cagle of Swansboro, North Carolina; two daughters, Lula Mae Boshell of Oran, Missouri and Laura Ann Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two brothers, Willie Franklin Cagle of Sikeston and Jerry Cagle of Woodville, Texas; and one sister, Illen Wise of Newberg, Indiana. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Cagle; one granddaughter, Brenda Rattae; one great grandson, Hunter Boshell; and four sisters, Marie Pullum, Imogene Sullivant, Janet Foster, and Effie Mae Cagle.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 10, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Donnie Ford of Fruitland, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Matthews Cemetery in Matthews, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
