Melba Rita Medler

Melba Rita Medler of Cape Girardeau, daughter of the late Benjamin "Benny" and Jeanelle Keadell Collins, born in Barnesville, Georgia on January 23, 1941, passed away at her home on October 12, 2020, at the age of 79 years. She was a Charter member of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses. Melba loved gardening, yard sales, dancing, and her job as an RN. On February 26, 1967, she married Ronald Medler in Barnesville, Georgia. Surviving are her husband, Ronald Medler of Cape Girardeau; two sons and wives, Westley (Wendy) Medler of Jackson, Missouri, and Kevin (Karyn) Medler of Auburn, Alabama; two grandchildren Joshua Medler and Jessica (Thomas) Hardin; and two sisters, Janice Freeman of Los Angeles, California, and Pamela Collins of Americus, Georgia. Other relatives and friends also survive. Melba was preceded in death by her parents Benny and Jeanelle Collins, and her brother Keith Collins. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2020, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held on Thursday morning October 15, 2020, at 10:00 am with Brother Ken officiating with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
