Mattie Irene Hoffman, daughter of the late Elmer and Georgia Ann Culberson Grim, was born near Dexter, Missouri, on June 21, 1923, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri on December 4, 2011, at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 12 days. She had lived in Dexter, Missouri most of her life. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Dexter, Missouri. She had worked at Bruce's Big Star and then the Piggly Wiggly Store for many years in bookkeeping and as a checker. She loved sewing, quilting, cooking and fishing. On September 29, 1942 she was married to Floyd James Hoffman in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2007. Surviving are three daughters and spouses, Judy and Jim Cochran of Doniphan, Missouri, Jane Cathey and Susan and Steve Watkins all of Dexter, Missouri; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren; and one brother, LaRue Grim of San Francisco, California. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Tola, Lora and Myrtle and one brother, Walter. Friends may visit on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home, Missouri with the Rev. Tom Bass of Cape Girardeau, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
