Mary M. Cox, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, was ushered to her heavenly home with the angels and saints, at the St. Francis Medical Center on December 2, 2015, at the age of 83 years, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on June 9, 1932, in Hackleburg, Alabama, daughter of the late James Sherman and Mable Bama Yielding Morgan.
She had lived in Southeast Missouri most of her life and moved to Bloomfield in 1989. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield where she was a member of the Helping Hands. She had retired after 31 years with the Missouri Department of Social Services where she had been the Supervisor of the Child Abuse Unit in Stoddard and Wayne Counties. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 385 in Bloomfield, the Red Hat Society and had served as an election judge for many years. Her passion was her family.
On November 21, 1949, she married Bill J. Cox, the love of her life, in Piggott, Arkansas.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Bill J. Cox of Bloomfield; two sons & wives, Ronald M & Carol Cox of Bloomfield, Bruce & Melanie Cox of Surprise, Arizona; one daughter & husband, Deborah & Harry Schilling of Jackson, Missouri; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one sister& husband, Dean & Drew Rudkin of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one sister, Esther L. McClananhan.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Jerry Darby of Malden officiating.
Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
