Mary Aldean Appleton, the daughter of the late John Luster and Linnie Bruce Tarrants, was born in Grayridge, Missouri on January 18, 1919, and passed away at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri on September 17, 2008, at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 30 days.
Mrs. Appleton had lived in Morehouse, Missouri for forty-eight years before moving to Bernie, Missouri ten months ago. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church Morehouse, Missouri.
On November 6, 1937, she was married to Lucian L. Appleton in Canalou, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1966.
Surviving are five sons, Roland Appleton of Bertrand, Missouri, Larry Appleton of Sikeston, Missouri, Ronnie Appleton of Oran, Missouri, Leon Appleton of Brownsburg, Indiana, Bruce Appleton of Bernie, Missouri; four daughters, Shirley Haynie-Kersey of Sikeston, Missouri, Sandra Odle of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Margaret Moffitt of High Point, North Carolina, Joan Lewis of Bernie, Missouri; one foster son, Kip Reischman of Maine; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; two brothers, John "Bud" Tarrants of Raymondsville, Missouri, Harold Tarrants of Morehouse, Missouri; two sisters, Uneita Tarrants of Elwood, Indiana and Myrtle Donnelly of St. Louis, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam, Frank and William Tarrants.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday September 19, 2008, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Phillip Cook of Marshfield, Missouri officiating and the Rev. Harold Shepard of Doniphan, Missouri assisting.
Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
