Marvin Lee Johnston, son of Edith Glenda Law Johnston and the late Andrew Jackson "A.J." Johnston, was born in Puxico, Missouri on November 1, 1940, and passed away at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on May 21, 2012, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 20 days. Marvin had lived in Puxico, Missouri all his life. He was a retired row crop farmer and truck driver and a member of the First Baptist Church in Puxico. He was a former member of the Puxico School Board and enjoyed gardening, reading and cooking. On March 15, 1984, he was married to Sharon Thilman in Puxico, Missouri. Surviving are his wife, Sharon Johnston of Puxico, Missouri; two sons & spouses, Scott & Angela Johnston, Todd & Dena Johnston all of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; one step-son and spouse, David & Mary Beth Davidson of Jackson, Missouri; two daughters & spouses, Tara & Jim Carpenter of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Michelle & Kevin Cook of Jackson, Missouri, one step-daughter & spouse, Cindy & Danny Blaylock of Gordonville, Missouri; his mother, Edith Glenda Johnston of Jackson, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother & spouse, Carroll & Marilyn Johnston of Salem, Oregon. Other family and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, William Ray Johnston and one sister, Barbara Joyce Johnston. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri. Interment will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Puxico Nutrition Center, 335 N Harty, Puxico, Missouri 63960.
