Martha Elizabeth Mitchell

Martha Elizabeth Mitchell, the daughter of Sophia Masterson Deason and the late Frank Deason, was born in Mount Morris, Michigan on July 20, 1938, and passed away at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on January 7, 2007, at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 18 days. Mrs. Mitchell had lived in Bloomfield before moving to Dexter in 1960. She had worked as a cook at the Dexter Public Schools for many years and was a member of the New Bethel General Baptist Church. On February 15, 1957, she was married to C. W. "Pete" Mitchell in Dexter, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1992. Surviving are one son, Michael MItchell of Dexter, Missouri; one daughter, Sharon Darby of Dexter, Missouri; her mother, Sophia Deason of Dexter, Missouri; four grandchildren, Shaun Phillips and Christopher Phillips both of Bloomfield, Missouri, Tiffany Mitchell and Brandon Mitchell both of Essex, Missouri; and one great grandson, Trenton Mitchell of Essex, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2007, at 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Dean Williams of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Sadler's Chapel Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
